What is IPL?
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is a non-invasive, light-based skin treatment that uses broad-spectrum pulses of light to target selected pigment and vascular concerns within the skin. At Ashlee Jess Aesthetics, we use the Alma Harmony XL Pro with Dye-VL technology to deliver these targeted pulses of light.
The technology we use
The Alma Harmony XL Pro is a modern, multi-technology platform, and our IPL treatments are performed with its Dye-VL handpiece. Dye-VL uses Alma's advanced fluorescence technology (AFT), which converts part of the light energy into wavelengths better matched to the targets being treated, allowing precise, controlled delivery. The handpiece also features an integrated contact-cooling tip, designed to keep the skin's surface cooler and more comfortable during treatment.
IPL is different from laser treatment, which uses a single, focused wavelength of light. Because every skin is different, IPL is not suitable for everyone or every type of pigmentation — suitability depends on your individual skin type, concerns and a professional skin assessment.
- Broad-spectrum pulses of light target selected pigment and vascular concerns
- Different from laser treatment — the two technologies work in different ways
- May help reduce the appearance of selected pigmentation and visible facial redness
- Treatment settings are personalised to your skin type and concerns
- Suitability is determined during your consultation and skin assessment
